World Recycle

How we impact the environment is important to all members of McNicholas & McNicholas, LLP, making environmental considerations an integral part of our daily practice.

In an effort to reduce our carbon footprint, McNicholas & McNicholas, LLP has taken the following steps:

  1. We use Apple computers in our office and on the road. Since 2001, all Apple computers and displays have earned the Energy Star rating for their power consumption effectiveness. All desktop computers and monitors are set to go into a low power-save mode when the computers are idol for more than 15 minutes.

  2. We currently use a permanently-installed water filtration system for firm wide usage in lieu of consuming individual-service plastic bottles and using 5-gallon water bottles, all of which had to be manufactured and delivered. As a result, we stopped our consumption of approximately 2,200 individual-service water bottles per year.

  3. We no longer use any paper cups for any beverages, including water and coffee. Rather, we use mugs and glasses, and a low energy dishwasher. As a result, we have stopped our consumption of approximately 500 paper cups per month, or approximately 6,000 per year.

  4. We place recycling bins for paper at everyone's desk and in the copy room, and we use recycle bins for cans and glass bottles. Recycling one can saves enough electricity to light a 100-watt bulb for 3½ hours. (Dept. of Environmental Protection)
