Matthew McNicholas Selected as 2016 Top Labor & Employment Lawyer by the Daily Journal
Daily Journal recognizes Partner Matthew McNicholas as one of 75 attorneys to be featured as a Top Labor and Employment Lawyer in California for his work representing police officers who have faced retaliation after blowing the whistle on inappropriate conduct in the department. In the last two years alone, Matt has won more than $20 million in awards in four separate cases on behalf of five police academy recruits and three police officers who were harassed and/or retaliated by the Los Angeles Police Department.
In his featured profile, Matt says, “When you look under the hood at the police department, sometimes you’re amazed they’re still able to fight crime. The LAPD on the one hand is the best trained, best equipped urban force in the world. Yet they feel they can do what they want to whomever they want.”
As Panel Counsel for the Los Angeles Police Protective League, Matt is truly an advocate for his clients. He currently has more than 20 separate cases pending against the LAPD on a variety of issues. Moreover, Matt will soon file a lawsuit on behalf on seven fire inspectors who faced retaliation after blowing the whistle on unsafe building inspections.
