$14.6 Million Retaliation Verdict
Retaliation Verdict
McNicholas & McNicholas secured a $14.6 million verdict for four LAPD officers who faced retaliation after raising concerns at a firearms training facility. These officers, two veteran firearms instructors and two armorers at LAPD’s Davis Training Facility, each had nearly 20 years of experience. Beginning in 2018, they reported staffing shortages that left recruits without adequate firearms training and unsafe practices they believed violated the law. Instead of addressing these issues, the Department initiated Internal Affairs investigations and demoted, removed, and involuntarily transferred all four officers.
