Los Angeles Times Interviews Matthew McNicholas on Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office Data Breach
Partner Matthew McNicholas spoke with the Los Angeles Times about the recent data breach at the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office, in which hundreds of thousands of sensitive documents containing people’s personal identifying information and a massive cache of confidential LAPD files were leaked. The breach is believed to have occurred in March, and the public was notified on April 9.
McNicholas, who represents many LAPD officers in lawsuits against the city, told the Los Angeles Times that he has received numerous calls from clients concerned that their personnel and medical records might have been exposed. He also expressed concern that the leak could expose the private information of police whistleblowers who have come forward to report discrimination and other misconduct.
