TopVerdict Names $1.85 Million Judgment Against LAPD to Top 100 U.S. Civil Rights Violation Verdicts

Partner Matthew McNicholas and Senior Lawyer Douglas Winter’s $1 million verdict on behalf of a 21-year veteran Police Officer III with the Los Angeles Police Department was ranked among TopVerdict’s Top 100 Civil Rights Violation Verdicts in the United States for 2022.

Vincent Albano was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome due to work-related injuries and was placed on light duty with work restrictions, which allowed him to work daytime hours only. When his position was eliminated and he was assigned to nighttime patrol desk hours, Albano raised the issue to his supervisors that the new position was in contradiction to his work restrictions and requested that his employer accommodate. After the department failed to engage in the interactive process and Albano’s supervisors harassed and discriminated against him, Albano was forced to retire.
